Good to hear from you Spirit! I do enjoy still seeing the NuB avatars in Steam.

Hey Farlord, good to hear from you! I've decided to leave the site up for as long as it still works on the version of PHP used on the server.

I've actually started playing a bit of TF2 again over the last few weeks (even moved it onto my SSD drive so that it loads a lot quicker), so you might spot me on Steam occasionally. I'm also still using Randy's great avatar because I don't think they can be bettered.

Sounds like you made a good move.

The vanilla days were the best. I used to love playing on Hydro as to me that map was what TF2 was about.

This website is beginning to die. The version of the SMF software it is running on is now about 8 years old and was reliant on PHP v5.4. The webhost, 1&1, no longer support PHP v5.4 unless you pay them extra to do so. As such, I've upgraded the hosting to PHP v5.5 which unfortunately causes errors within the site.

The shout box appears to be broken (can't add new shouts) and the thread links from the front page no longer work.

Further updates to the PHP version, which will be compulsory at some point, will likely render the site completely broken.

The last time I played TF2, I couldn't remember any of the keys!

Ok, a requested, here is the NuB catch-up thread.

I'm still here Grin

Job-wise, I started a new role just over 3 months ago. I'm now a Database Developer & Systems Administrator for a mobile phone distributor owned by EE and based in Burton upon Trent, with one day a week at an office in Crewe.

As for gaming, I've hardly played TF2 since NuB folded and I barely ever load up Steam any more. I don't really seem to find much time to do any gaming these days and the only game I'm playing at the moment is GTA 5, although I occasionally play FIFA 15. I usually only play GTA single player as I find the online game full of kids and hackers, but I might give online another go as it does look good. Again, it's finding the time.

I recently bought a new car, a Mazda 6 Sport Nav  Cool

That's terrible news, I'm really sad to hear it. What happened? I knew he was quite young and his user profile says he was 27. Far too young an age. Mrbreckles was a good guy and a good laugh. I think he lived not too far from me in the West Midlands if I remember rightly.

R.I.P. mrbreckles

You still seem to be logged in under the wrong account. Let me know if you need the username for the MandL account or the password resetting.

I've merged the markddavis account into the MandL account.

Talking of new PCs, I built myself a new one last year:

Core i7 4790k
16GB RAM
GTX 980 (originally had 780, but upgraded via EVGA's Step-Up programme)
2x 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD drives

Last week I added a 27" Dell monitor (U2715H) with 2560x1440 resolution. I'd actually ordered the 25" version from Amazon, but for some reason they sent me the more expensive 27" one Grin. I've since ordered a second monitor (the 25" again, so it'll be interesting to see what they send me).

Now just got to wait another 2 months until GTA V is released.

Yay, first forum post of 2013!  Smiley

Glad you found something that works.

Hey Alty! It has been a long time.

Unfortunately it seems that TF2 itself is rapidly declining in popularity these days.

And 3 weeks later the story makes the Daily Mail.

Don't worry Kat, I knew you were below our minimum age, but you were always one of the more mature members and I knew your dad would keep you in line. Wink

Sorry that it's come to this, but in all honesty I can't say that I blame you. I'll remember the good times, and there were a lot. Huge thanks to Doomy for the Innis and Gunn pointer, for which I am still very much grateful. Truly it is a beer of hope and a beer of wonder. I found the rum cask one last week in Tesco, and it was good.

The rum cask is gorgeous! I'm following Innis & Gunn on Twitter and they've launched two new ones - Highland Cask and Winter Beer. I've only seen mention of them in the US so far (I'll keep any eye out when I go to Las Vegas in 2 weeks time), but I'm hoping to find them over here. They've also started doing a draught version in some pubs.

Upstart, you're welcome to keep the tags on. I'll probably keep mine along with my avatar.
